Description
Fairly easy hike with good views, but limited camping. First 4.5 miles are forest broken by avalanche paths. Louis Lake Trail No. 428 branches left at the 2-mile marker. You will travel through an old wildfire at 5.5 miles, then cross a stream at 7 miles. Then the trail becomes rocky before the last 0.25 mile to the pass. At the pass the trail enters the North Cascades National Park (park service permits required for camping).
Occasional views. A good day trip for a family outting.
Wilderness use restrictions apply.
Northwest Forest Pass required. Stock ramp, hitchrail, and pit toilets.
