Description
This steep trail takes you to the top of Sunrise Peak, where you can still see evidence of the old fire lookout. Sunrise Peak, 5,880 feet, is the highest summit on the Randle District. From the summit, you will get views of Mt. Adams, Mount St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, and on a clear day, Mt. Hood.
Sunrise Peak is made of a type of molten rock that cooled below the earth's surface. This rock was exposed by hundreds of years of erosion, stripping away the layers of rock that used to blanket this area.
