Description
From Road 4107, this steep, rugged trail rapidly climbs, switchbacking up to the summit of Silver Star Mountain. At midpoint along the trail (at about 1.5 miles), the trail crosses talus slopes, beargrass, and brush, making the way extremely difficult.
The trail is difficult to follow beyond the halfway point. Watch for blazes on trees. (Please do not place any additional blazes on the trees.) The trail ends on the Bluff Mountain Trail No. 172. Plans are underway to improve this trail. Check with the Mount St. Helens Ranger District for up-to-date information.
This trail once provided access to the Silver Star Mountain Lookout on top of the 4,390-foot summit. The lookout was constructed in 1934.
Fantastic views of Mount St. Helens, Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier and Three Corner Rock. Portions of Vancouver and Camas are visible.

Basic Directions
Forest Road 4107 is suitable for high clearance vehicles only, due to two hazardous fords over Copper Creek, as well as large gullies and pot holes on the road surface caused by winter snow run-offs.
