The trail ascends the Rock Creek drainage through alternating timber and open avalanche meadows to the subalpine area near Woody Pass and the junction with the Pacific Crest Trail.
Good views of Holman Peak and Powder Mountain from upper section of trail. Camps with horsefeed are available in the bottom of several avalanche chutes near the creek. This trail is often used to make loop trips out of Hart's Pass with the West Fork or Middle Fork trails.
Parts of the trail in meadow areas may be difficult to follow. Stock users should use caution near Woody Pass junction as the tread occasionally slides on the steep sideslope.
Wilderness use restrictions apply.
