Description

Rainbow has 9 secluded camping sites, each with a table and fire ring. Water is available. There are vault toilets. These sites are not large and are therefore limited to tents and smaller recreational vehicles. There are no hookups. Call (360) 765-2200 for information on reserving this group campground. Length of stay is 14 days. Reservations available May through September.

This is a great site for group camping as it is private with exclusive use of the campground. Enjoy many recreation opportunities in the area. The Rainbow Canyon Trail is at the far side of the campground. The trail provides a short hike to the Big Quilcene River. A picturesque waterfall is on the left about halfway down to the river.

One and a half miles north of Rainbow is the Fallsview Campground. A short walk from the parking area gives a beautiful view of the falls and canyon. There is also a longer, steep trail that leads to the Big Quilcene River.

One tenth of a mile south, just across from the campground is Forest Service Road 2730. It leads to some of the area’s most spectacular scenery at the Mt. Walker Observation area. There are fabulous views of Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Jupiter, Buckhorn Mountain, Mt. Constance and on a clear day, Seattle with its Space Needle. On clearer days, you may even see Mt. St. Helens to the south.

Camping and fishing supplies, gas, groceries, laundromat, restaurant and public phones are available in Quilcene and Brinnon. The nearest hospitals are 29 miles to Port Townsend and 49 miles to Shelton.

This is a reservation group site campground. $50 per night. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance.Maximum group size is 50 people.
