Description
After long, steep initial climb in big timber, the trail follows ridge and sidehills mostly above timberline. Steep up and down into little basins.
This trail offers many views of the western Pasayten including spectacular views of Crater Mountain and Jack Mountain. Since the trail is mostly at or above timberline, there are many open ridges to walk. This trail is often used as part of the popular Devil’s Dome loop, following the Devil’s Ridge Trail No. 752 to Ross Lake and down the East Bank Trail to return to the trailhead. There are camps with horse feed at McMillan Park, Devil’s Park and Devil’s Pass.
The trail beyond Devil’s Park should be considered difficult for stock due to tread slippage on steep hillsides. This trail usually melts out later than most trails in the Wilderness.
Wilderness use restrictions apply.
Pit toilet and primitive campsites.
