Description

The lower Foss and upper Foss (East and West Fork) offer excellent fishing for a diversity of salmonids. Access to the river is from various sections along Rd 68. Average channel gradient of the Foss mainstem is 2-3%. The river's headwaters are found within the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area and this serves as a great background for a day spent fishing in this river system. This is a fairly large river so the use of hip or chest waders is recommended. Numerous log jam complexes offering excellent pool habitat can be found in the system.
