Description
From the Bridge Creek Trailhead, cross the State Route 20 and find a 100-foot long path leading to the main trail. At 0.8 miles the trail divides. The right fork is the Pacific Crest Trail; the left is the old Bridge Creek Trail. Take the left trail and cross State Creek on a log or ford. In 0.1 mile there is a junction - stay to left. In another 0.1 mile there is another junction and then the trail goes east to Copper Pass.
This is a good hike for experienced backcountry travelers who are looking for isolation. The trail is seldom used and usually not shown on maps. The upper Copper Creek Basin is scenic. From the pass there are fine views of Stiletto Peak, Gilbert Mtn., and Kangaroo Ridge.
The truly adventurous could follow the old trail down over the Twisp River side to connect with the Twisp Pass Trail.
This trail is recommended for experienced backcountry travelers only. The trail may be faint and hard to follow in places.
No motorized or mechanized vehicles. Wilderness use restrictions apply.Northwest Forest Pass required. Vault toilets, parking, hitch rail. Stock ramps at both Gilbert and Bridge Creek.
