Description
This portion of the Pacific Crest Trail heads north through alpine meadows for 3 miles to Sourdough Gap, on the crest of the Cascade Mountains. Alpine wildflowers and spectacular views of Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mount St. Helens.
Mile point 11.0 is Barnard's Saddle, mile point 11.3 is Hayden Pass. Trail descends into Little Crow Basin at mile point 11.5. At mile point 13.0 junction with Castle Mountain Trail No. 1188 to the west and Crow Lake Way Trail No. 953 to the east. At mile point 15.6 junction with Arch Rock Trail No. 1187 to the west. Mile point 16.3 junction with Cougar Valley Trail No. 951 to the east. At mile point 17.9 is junction with spur trail north to Arch Rock Shelter. From this point north, trail is in timber. Louisiana Saddle and junction with Middle Fork Trail No. 945 to the east, is at mile point 19.4. At mile point 20.6 is Rod's Gap, trail climbs. At mile point 22.1 junction with Maggie Creek Trail No. 1186 to the west, trail levels off. Meadow Ck. is at mile point 22.8. At mile point 22.9 is the Government Meadows Shelter. At mile point 23.1 junction with Naches Wagon Trail No. 1175 (west), No. 942 (east).

Drive east on State Highway 410 from Enumclaw 33.1 miles to the Crystal Mountain Road #7190. Turn left onto the Crystal Mountain Road and follow it 4.2 miles. Park on the right side of the road and walk 500 feet up Road #7190410 to the Norse Peak Trail #1191 trailhead. There are 7 parking spaces on road shoulder.
