Description

The trail begins at the north end of Coho Campground. The trailtravels mainly through second growth forest.The trail then drops down to the WynoocheeRiver. The trail continues along the river to aconcrete road bridge and turns down on otherside of the river returning to the east side of thelake. Use caution when choosing to ford theriver at this point. The trail continues on the east side of the lake crossing some old roads andclimbing up and down easy grades through someold growth forest until the Wynoochee Dam isreached. The trail continues across the dam andthrough the picnic area returning to CohoCampground.

Potable water and flush toiletsare available at Coho Campground when openduring the summer season. Parking is availableat the walk-in or boat launch parking lots insidethe campground.

Small streams and waterfalls,Wynoochee River, Wynoochee Lake, old-growthand second growth forests are all part of thehiking experience along this loop trail.

Day hiking, camping,wildlife observation, bicycle riding, birdwatching, fishing, boating and swimming.

Motorized vehicles and stock areprohibited.

Basic Directions

From Route 12 – Montesano: Turnnorth on the Wynoochee Valley Road (1 milewest of Montesano). Drive approximately 35miles on the Wynoochee Valley Road (FS Rd.#22) to a major intersection. Turn left. Stayingon FS Road #22, drive a short distance and turnright on FS. Road #2294. Drive about one mileto the entrance of Coho campground.
