Description

The Stehekin River is perhaps one of the most remote rivers with commercial access in the state of Washington. Draining the North Cascade Mountains and an integral part of the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area, the Stehekin is accessible only by ferry ride across Lake Chelan.

Semi open pine and fir forest line the banks of the Stehekin as its emerald green waters snake past expansive mountain vistas and cliff faces. Intermediate level rapids dot the river channel, at times getting swift and technical. Fed predominantly by snowmelt, the Stehekin is best rafted in early summer as a day trip.
