Description
Trail is a short 0.5 mile in the Forest before entering Olympic Park.Ascends gradual at first with some steep sectionsbefore arriving at Royal Basin in the Park
Large parking area. Vault toiletnear trailhead just before road bridge on left.
Dense forest-hike along RoyalCreek. Meadows, wildflowers, waterfalls and amountain-lake in Royal Basin.
Camping is available alongthe trail and at Royal Creek. Opportunities forday hiking, fishing, backpacking, horsebackriding, and viewing scenery. Royal Basin is inthe Olympic National Park and is surrounded onthree sides by rugged rock ridges. Water isavailable along route. Treat all water taken fromstreams before drinking. Pack out what youpack in. Please use existing campsites whenpossible and camp at least 100 feet from watersources. Practice LEAVE NO TRACEtechniques during your trip
Motorized vehicles and mountainbikes are prohibited. No open campfires allowedabove 3,500 feet inside Buckhorn Wilderness.Pets and firearms are prohibited in Park.

The Royal Basin Trail starts 1 mileup the Upper Dungeness Trail. Follow USHighway 101 north to Sequim Bay State park,turn left across from state park onto Louella Road.Follow Louella Road one mile to Palo Alto Roadand turn left on Palo Alto Road for 1.1 mile toForest Boundary. The Palo Alto Road becomesFS Road #28. Turn right onto FS Road #2880,drive past Dungeness Forks Campground for1 mile, stay left onto FS Road #2870 for 8.7 miles to trailhead across Dungeness Riverbridge on right side of road.
