Description
The upper portion of the trail is historic. It was originally constructed around the turn of the century to increase accessibility to the top of the ridge for a fire lookout. When traveling this trail, you can see different areas that had burned around the turn of the century.

Basic Directions
From Highway 36, travel south along county road 501 approximately 9 miles. The trailhead is located directly across the street from the U.S.Forest Service Bailey Canyon Campground, it’s all up hill from here. Or travel to the top of South Fork Mountain on Highway 36. Turn south on forest service road 1S23 and travel approximately 5 miles to the trailhead. It’s a down hill hike from here.
