Description
1.1 miles in length andsteep. Trail does enter the northern boundary of the Buckhorn Wilderness.
Trailhead parking. Benches placedalong trail.
A beautiful stand of second growthDouglas-fir with dense underbrush of rhododendron,salal, and Oregon grape. Partial views of mountainsto the west including Blue Mountain, Baldy, Tylerand Maynard Peaks. Overgrown trees at the top withold fire lookout. The lookout was used in the 1930’s. Please stay off the lookout.
This is a short steep dayhike. Opportunities to view rhododendrons frommid-May to early June.
Practice LEAVE NO TRACE techniques.
Motorized vehicles, mountainbicycles and stock are prohibited.

Drive approximately 2.5 miles westof Sequim on US Highway 101. Turn left ontoTaylor Cutoff Road to Lost Mountain Road.Proceed to intersection of FS Road #2870 andturn left. Continue on FS #2870 to FS #2875and turn right. Follow #2870 to FS Road #2878and turn left. Parking lot is on left side of road.Ample parking available.
