Description

After several long traverses, the trail crosses a level saddle. A pileof logs blocking the way, marks the end of themaintained trail. This trail is maintained annuallyand generally is in good condition to the saddle. An abandoned trail drops from the saddle intothe Jefferson Creek drainage. Note: Travel further up the mountain, beyond the end of themaintained trail, is a Class 4 climbing route that requires ropes and belaying. Experienced climbersonly. This route is NOT a scramble and individuals attempting to climb Mt. Washington should be properly equipped for mountain climbing on steeprock and snow.

There is a small area for parkingright before the trailhead. There is no toilet orpotable water

The broad smooth path climbs at agentle grade through mature fir and hemlockforest. The elevation is comparatively high, yet the firs are 3 feet or more in diameter, with an open understory.

Day hiking, mountainclimbing (class 4 route), and viewing scenery and wildlife.

Motorized vehicles are prohibited.

Travel US Highway 101 toHoodsport. Turn onto SR 119 and travel 9.0miles to the junction with FS Road #24. Turnright and go 1.6 miles, turn onto FS Road #2419(Mt. Ellinor Rd.) Travel 7 miles to trailhead.
