Description
5.2 miles in length,grade is moderate to steep, 35% maximum. Trailenters Park at 3.6 miles. Overnight camping inPark backcountry requires Wilderness permit
There is ample parking. Severalrustic campsites are adjacent to trailhead
Trail begins in forest and ends inalpine meadows in the Park. Splendid views ofsnow-covered peaks in the Olympics arefrequent at the higher elevations.
Hiking, backpacking,scenic views. Dispersed camping at Slab Campand also camping at the Deer Park Campground.Please use existing campsites when possible andcamp at least 100 feet from water sources. Treatall water taken from streams before drinking.Pack out what you pack in.
Motorized vehicles and mountainbikes are prohibited. Pack and saddle stock arenot recommended due to the steep grades. Petsand firearms are prohibited in the OlympicNational Park.

Approximately 2.5 miles west ofSequim on US Highway 101, take a left on theTaylor Cutoff Road to Lost Mountain Road andproceed to the intersection of Forest ServiceRoad #2870. Take a left on #2870, then turnright at junction with the #2875 Road. Proceedon #2875 andwatch for small parking area nearSlab Camp and the trailhead is on the right.This trail ends at Deer Park Campgroundin the Olympic National Park.
