Description

There are 46 campsites that will accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs up to 34 feet in length. There are also 10 walk-in tent camp units. One walk-in site will serve a group of 12 persons. Coho has piped water, tables, fire rings, paved road, flush toilets, trails and a boat ramp. There is a public telephone located at the entrance to the Tacoma Power day use area. There are no trailer hookups. The RV waste dump station is just outside of the campground on FS Road #2294. Garbage cans are provided.

Coho Campground is located on the west shore of Wynoochee Lake. Evergreen conifers and hardwoods provide a beautiful wooded setting.

Picnicking, swimming, hiking, boating, hunting, and fishing are possible in the area. The 16-mile Wynoochee Lake Shore Trail follows 6 miles along the lakeshore, extends another 2 miles upriver to a bridge over the Wynoochee River, then returns to the campground in 8 miles on the opposite side of the river/lake. The Working Forest Nature Trail is a ½ mile trail located on the north side of the campground off the Wynoochee Lake Shore Trail. Visitors can enjoy exhibits at the vista overlook and a view of the river gorge located just below the dam. Tacoma Power has a Fish Collection Facility a few miles below the dam on the river. There are picnicking and swimming facilities at the dam. For general lake info call 1-(888) 502-8690. There are no commercial services available at Wynoochee Lake or Coho Campground. Motorists should have sufficient fuel for the return trip.

Camping fees are $12 per night for drive-in sites and $10 per night for walk-in sites. Group walk-in site #53 is $12 per night with a maximum of 12 persons. The $12 fee covers two licensed passenger vehicles and a maximum of eight persons. The two-vehicle rule may consist of any combination of the following: Two passenger cars, trucks, and/or recreation vehicles (NOTE: boat trailers and recreation trailers are not considered passenger vehicles). An additional $5.00 fee is charge for each vehicle over the two-vehicle rule. The 8 person maximum capacity per campsite still applies. Coho is open from spring through fall.
