NORTHWEST WASHINGTON

In the greater Puget Sound area, there are over 35 wineries. Most are within a short drive from major Puget Sound cities: Seattle, Tacoma, and
Bellingham. Situated along the Sound, this region tends to be cooler than eastern Washington, so vineyards produce early-ripening grapes, as well
as experimenting with some lesser known cold weather varieties.
In the far south, the Columbia River Gorge appellation, east of Vancouver combines wine tourism with incredible water recreation along the Columbia river, and hiking in the surrounding
hills from vineyard to vineyard.

The fertile Columbia Valley, bordered by the lush Cascade Mountains to the west, is some of the most beautiful wine country that Washington has to offer.
The broad rivers and lakes add to the unique environment. Like much of the recreation opportunities available in the area, the wineries center around Wenatchee
and Chelan, where visitors can fish and mountain bike as well as enjoying the local wines. Nearby Leavenworth offers a distinct
Bavarian atmosphere to wine tasting.

The heart of Washington wine country, the appellations here are synonymous with award-winning wine: Horse Heaven Hills, Yakima Valley,
Walla Walla Valley, and the newly established Rattlesnake Hills. The region is easily accessible from Seattle
and Spokane.
Situated in prime agricultural land, the vines here benefit from long, warm summers and fertile soil. With more than 150 (and growing) wineries within an hour's drive
the Tri-Cities of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland is the perfect place to explore the surrounding area, and
wineries ranging from Washington's largest producer to the more intimate vineyards.
