Bike, Walk and Kayak: A Classic Island Adventure
The tranquil channels, harbors and bays lapping at the feet of charming island towns provide the backdrop as you and your family explore Washington’s San Juan Islands. On bike and foot, follow corridors of trees past inlets and coves and over mountains to view the shimmering Pacific Ocean. Wind your way through peaceful bays by kayak, catching glimpses of harbor seals, great blue herons and tidal pools full of sea stars. A wildlife-watching cruise hosted by a naturalist brings you closer to nature’s more elusive creatures. This Backroads multisport adventure is the perfect way to experience what Northwest island life is all about—be it pedaling, paddling, walking or simply sitting back with your kids and enjoying the view.
