Port Townsend - Fishing
Fishing is great year round in and around Port Townsend, the Puget
Sound around Kitsap Peninsula, and throughout the Strait of Juan de
Fuca into the Pacific Ocean. The majority of species are available and
withing regulation from mid summer through early winter, and the
fishing seasons and regulations tend to reflect this.
Salmon, Cod, and Halibut are plentiful in the area, and Steelhead
and trout can be found in island inlets and channels. Fly fishing the
beaches and streams will show some success, although most fly fishers
with the time available will head to the epic Hoh and Quinault Rivers.
Most charter outfitters here will take advantage of Port Townsend's
location and get you straight to the Strait.
No experience is necessary to fish around Port Townsend and the
Puget Sound, just a experienced guide and chartered boat. Luckily,
professional boating and fishing guides are as plentiful in Port
Townsend and the northern Olympic coast (including Sequim, Port
Angeles, and beyond) as the fish themselves.

rent fishing equipment in and near Port Townsend are listed below.
