 Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Seattle views
Upon arrival, enjoy city views westward across Puget Sound to the snow-capped Olympic Mountains on the Olympic Peninsula. Pacific Northwest tour begins at 6:30 p.m. at your hotel. Meet your Tauck Director and fellow travelers at the welcome reception and dinner.

Day 2: A day in Seattle
Take in the incredible views (weather permitting) of the city, Cascade Mountains, and Olympic Mountains from the 520-foot-high observation deck of the Space Needle, built for the 1962 World’s Fair held in Seattle. Visit colorful Pike Place Market offering fresh fish, crabs, and produce. In the afternoon, choose a guided tour of the renowned Museum of Flight, or, pursue your own interests in this cultured city.

Day 3: Bavarian village
Travel over Stevens Pass in the Cascade Mountains to the alpine village of Leavenworth, built to resemble Old World Bavaria. Descend from the mountains to the Columbia River valley where a series of dams constitutes one of the largest hydroelectric power sources in the world. Head north into cowboy country where your lodging is a rustic, ranch-style hotel.

Day 4: Forest fires & forest rides
Meet the famed Smokejumpers, considered the most skilled forest fire fighters in the U.S., and hear about their incredible experiences. Enjoy a free afternoon, perhaps taking a trail ride on horseback, or visiting the historic town of Winthrop.

Day 5: San Juan Island cruise
View the heavily glaciated North Cascade peaks, and the lakes of the Skagit power project that lights Seattle. Visit La Conner, a 19th-century Victorian fishing village now filled with art galleries. Take a ferry through the pristine San Juan Islands, and watch for orcas, seals, porpoises, sea lions, and bald eagles before arriving in Victoria.

Day 6: Victoria’s Butchart Gardens
Visit Butchart Gardens and its colorful floral displays. Established in 1904, it’s a National Historic Site of Canada. Explore Victoria in the afternoon, highlighted by the Royal British Columbia Museum featuring the human and natural history of British Columbia. Or, choose to explore the city’s picturesque waterfront.

Day 7: Island floatplane tour
Marvel at the view of the Gulf Islands on a floatplane ride, a Pacific Northwest tour highlight. Arrive in the city of Vancouver and view landmark attractions. Cross back into Washington to overnight at a resort overlooking Puget Sound’s Semiahmoo Bay. Enjoy the evening farewell dinner with fellow travelers.

Day 8: Homeward bound
Drive to Seattle, approximately 115 miles. Tour ends at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport at 11:30 a.m.
