Description

Just barely outside Austin is Lake Travis, a clear and winding lake surrounded by civilzation. This is not a remote and secluded destination, Lake Travis is a getaway those who want an easily accessible sojourn on the water.

The lake is great for swimming and diving, parts of it are over 200 feet deep. Numerous campsites and RV parks dot the shores and there's plenty to do on land.  The western parts of Lake Travis are less developed and this is where you are more likely to find some open beaches, coves and hiking trails.

One of the favorite activities is to bring a group and rent a houseboat for a few days. You get the best of both worlds by spending time on a luxury boat, some of them almost 100 feet long, then heading to shore for a round of golf or some shopping.
