Description

The Erie Canal runs the lateral length of New York, stretching some 363 miles from Albany to Buffalo, where it empties into Lake Erie. Residents of New York have long enjoyed the benefits of this one-time engineering breakthrough. These days, the Erie Canal is mainly used by recreational traffic, although cargo traffic still uses the canal.

Houseboating and fishing are popular activities along the Erie Canal. Enjoy a relaxing float down the waterway, bouncing from town to town or wet a line and enjoy the great fishing found in the waters. Huge fish are caught regularly. Just because it doesn't sound like your traditional recreational body of water doesn't mean it isn't a diamond in the rough.

Visit the Erie Canal and have a ball, regardless of whether you're near Albany, Buffalo, or somewhere in between.
