This trail followsthe shore of Lake Cushman and is flat for 1.4miles then turns and begins to climb to a junctionwith a lake access trail (keep right). The trailthen follows an abandoned/overgrown road to acampsite near the Dry Creek crossing. The trailcontinues to climb to the pass between DryMountain and Prospect Ridge. At this point thetrail levels out, then descends to FS Road No. 2352-200. This trail is considered easy along the shoreof Lake Cushman but then becomes difficult dueto steeper grades. There is a large area on theroadside for parking. The beginning of the trailis gated (private property), so please don’t parkin front of the gate. There are no facilities at thetrailhead. Toilets are available at Bear GulchPicnic Area (just beyond the causeway on FS Rd. No. 24). Trail starts on a private road, thenmeanders through the woods and along the lakeshore to a viewpoint where Mt. Rose is visible.Once you leave the road, you continue throughprivate land for another .25 mile. Please stay onthe trail while traveling this section of trail.Old growth forest starts approximately 4.0 milesup Dry Creek. Day hiking, backpacking,wildlife observation, and scenery.
