Columbia River Gorge - Fishing
The Columbia is known for sturgeon, trout, shad, walleye, crab, and salmon (including Coho and Chinook, or Spring King). Numerous Gorge-area guides and outfitters offer equipment and guided trips. Curious visitors can also make a pilgrimage to the fish hatchery at Bonneville Dam (the nation's only white sturgeon hatchery) to view sturgeon, trout, and salmon ponds, and in May and September, watch eager-to-spawn salmon make their way upriver.
