Columbia River Gorge Scenic Byway - Washington

This byway stretches along the Columbia River at the very bottom of Washington and is enveloped in the spectacular setting of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. If a wide variety of sites on one drive spark your interest, look no further. Columbia River Gorge Byway offers a number of thrills.

A portion of the byway travels through a shadowy and cool national forest, while rushing, sparkling water cascading down hills forms a few spectacular waterfalls. Mere miles apart, the ancient petroglyphs at Horsethief Lake State Park and a full-scale replica of Stonehenge vie for your attention. Serious windsurfers like to call areas of the Columbia River home and watching their skill in stunts offers hours of enjoyment. Take a leisurely drive and stop in the numerous pull-outs to see all that the Columbia River Gorge Byway has to offer.

Time to Allow: Take 2-3 hours to drive this byway.
Fee: Various toll bridges to the Oregon side have fees.
