Valley bottom and sidehill trail mostly in big timber well above river. Last 6 miles climb up to an open ridge top, with scattered subalpine forest.

The trail passes the historic mining town of Chancellor (and connecting road to Hart's Pass). Old building and mining relics in the area can still be seen along the trail. Some claims are active, others historic. Do not disturb

There are no stock unloading facilities at the trailhead. No horse feed is available until the trail reaches the top of Center Mountain. Slides occasionally make the trail unsafe or impassable with stock.

Wilderness use restrictions apply.

Northwest Forest Pass required. Vault toilets, and campsites.
