This trail follows the route of an old narrow gauge mining road that was used to access the most successful mine of the area - the Azurite Mine. The trail is mostly on open hillsides and ridge tops.

From the pass, one can wander the ridge out to Cady Point, at 6542 feet, the site of an old fire lookout tower. The trail receives only light use, and may be brushy or hard to follow in places.

There is no trail bridge over Slate Creek at the beginning of the trail. This crossing may be difficult in high water.

No motorized vehicles.
